The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has decided to provide health assistance to Phnom Penh by helping to build a Dangkor Referral Hospital to improve public health services for Cambodians, especially in Dangkor district.
The signing ceremony of the minutes of the discussion meeting on “Project to improve public health services at Dangkor Referral Hospital in Phnom Penh” between the Phnom Penh Capital Administration and the KOICA was held on the morning of April 5 at Phnom Penh Capital Hall between Nuon Pharath, Deputy Governor of Phnom Penh, and Ms. Yung Yeon SHIN, Deputy Director of the KOICA, under the chairmanship of Mr. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh.
Sreng said that the decision to build a Dangkor Referral Hospital under the auspices of KOICA is a testament to the commitment of the Korean government and people to contributing to the development of Cambodia. This also shows the strengthening of ties and solidarity between the two countries.
The Phnom Penh governor continued that the decision to choose Dangkor district to build this referral hospital was because the Phnom Penh Capital Administration sees that this location is good; there are many factories, enterprises, workers, and people gathered here, and in 2025, a new airport near this location will also be opened, which makes this area It is full of people, while Dangkor district has only one national hospital for cancer treatment.
Ms. Yung Yeon SHIN also mentioned that the Korea International Cooperation Agency, established in Cambodia in 2003, has helped Cambodia with 13 projects worth about $83 million, and the construction project of the National Children’s Hospital in 2005 is also part of this project.
